When a potential threat is detected, the Omnilert system immediately triggers an alert that sets the security team into action, along with prescribed notification scenarios.
HOW OMNILERT'S AI DETECTS GUN THREATS
01
Assess
The system first assesses video frames to detect a human body, including the torso, arms, legs, and more. It doesn’t try to find specific people or recognize personal traits like color or gender. Instead, it focuses solely on identifying the shape of a body.
02
Detect
The AI acts as a gun detector, searching for handguns or long guns near the recognized body. It can distinguish between different types of firearms, such as handguns, shotguns, rifles, and military-style weapons. To minimize false alarms, the AI also identifies and ignores inert objects like cell phones, hand-tools, common office items, and more.
03
Analyze
The system reviews several video frames in sequence to create a clear track of the potential threat. This process reduces false detections. Additionally, the system analyzes the relationship between the gun and the body’s arm and hand to determine if the detected gun represents an active shooter threat with high confidence.
With real-time alerts that include images, location, and video, fire responders and security staff can reduce their response time and increase the effectiveness of the response with actionable situational intelligence.
